Miguel Alvarez

Miguel is a freelance geobotanist and data scientist. He previously worked as a research assistant at the University of Bonn and as a trainer for artificial intelligence and data science at the Fraunhofer FIT, Germany. Long-term experience as vegetation ecologist conducting field research in Eastern Africa and South America. Main research topics are wetland ecology, biological invasions, syntaxonomic classifications and classifications and vegetation -lot databases.


Ildikó Orbán

Iló is a vegetation ecologist interested in the effects of global change on ecosystems. She has expertise in palaeoecological studies and the assessment of long-term changes in vegetation dynamics, as well as in the implementation and evaluation of climate manipulation experiments. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Potsdam and works in the project Nam.Tip, which focuses on tipping points in socio-ecological systems.

She will moderate the workshop sessions during the course and is responsible for organisational matters.
